Your new home has a pre-installed security system
Many times after you close on a house, you’ll notice that the previous owners used a smart home system. All the alarms and cameras function well, are placed in the correct places, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you may have to do is to call and set up a new contract. A Vivint expert will still show up to ensure there are no compatibility problems, and they could offer options on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a quick appointment, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new devices -- unless you get some new devices.
The old owners can move an existing Vivint contract to your family for a nominal transfer fee to make the process easier. If the owners are moving to a condo or retirement community, you keeping the Vivint contract might be an addendum of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your old components with you
You might need to bring along your old home security components with you to your new home when you move. Luckily, it's fairly simple to transfer, as many smart devices are wireless. You can remove each alarm or camera by yourself or call a professional installer to take care of everything. Then an expert will put in the same devices -- and any new devices you need -- in the new home. The home security contract will keep the same.
